Passion. Passion is what takes things from the regular to the next level. Passion is what takes ordinary men and women and makes them extraordinary. Passion doesn’t discriminate on height, weight, gender, sex, race, anything. Passion is what brought a bunch of kids in 1980 to step up to men, to the world, against “The unbeatable” and beat them. To give a country hope, pride, the will to go on. Passion. Its something you have to feel and live. It’s your heart; it’s your way of life. If you don’t have it in everything you do, you wont survive anything you do. Passion takes a kid who has nothing, a broken home, a family who’s struggling and takes them to the top. Takes them to dreams they only thought were possible when they went to bed at night. Passion lets you rely on more than luck. It gives you a reason to believe and KNOW that you have what it takes. Every man is created equal. Others take the little opportunities that they got and make them huge. Passion takes the “I can’t, I won’t” and turns it into “I can, I will.” At the end of the day it comes down to you. It doesn’t come down to anyone else. There will be haters that say “You’re not big enough, you cant do that.” But at the end of the day you’re the one looking in the mirror and going to bed with yourself at night.
You think if Danny Woodhead listened to every doubter that said he was too small and from a DII school that he would never play in the league or he would be where he is today? He got CUT from the New York Jets, he could have packed it in and listened to everyone that doubted him, but he had passion. The thing with passion is it DOESN’T care about logic at all. If passion cared about logic then Tom Brady who was a 6th round 199th overall draft pick in the 2000 draft, would be working a regular job and out of the league. Little do a lot of people know that Tom Brady was a back up to Drew Bledsoe who was the face of the Patriots for years, until he got hurt and Tom Brady got the chance to play and now is the face of the NFL. Passion. Passion doesn’t care about the past; it only leads to the future. Passion told Adolf Hitler and the entire Nazi party to shove it when they tried to take over the world. Passion said, “I have a dream” Passion spoke in 4 score and seven years ago. Passion made the decision to try. It gave people hope to live, it told mother nature that just because you can hit us with a hurricane that knocked out a whole city, that we could still stay strong and host massive events not long after. Passion could never tell a lie. It told us that we have nothing to fear, but fear itself. Passion told the free world that only because we are in a depression that we will get out of this, just stay strong. Passion took a young man, who’s fathers…BOTH, walked out on him and his mother and to have to live with one leg, who was anything but a “Perfectly fine human body” that HE could be a PERFECT 36-0 national Champion wrestler. Passion took a homeless man and made him the motivational speaker that he is today. “It doesn’t matter what odds are stacked against me, I don’t know math, I only know will” says passion. Passion gave peace a chance. Passion said just because we are down 3 games in the World Series that we could come back and win it. Passion can’t be mistaken, put in a drug and infused into your body. Its something you’re born with. Passion can defeat any enemy. Passion stood in front of a tank in Tiananmen Square and said enough was enough. Passion will set you free and take off that coat of doubt that you have hanging over you. Passion told a man that he could loose 245 pounds by sticking to a plan of eating strict sandwiches. It gave men a chance to keep a free union. Passion told England that they could take their taxation without representation and jump in a ditch. Passion gave that boy, girl, man, women the chance to BEAT CANCER. It told cancer that just because you THINK you can take this young persons life too early that you are the one that’s DEAD wrong. Passion gave a man the right to wear number 42 and break the color barrier. Passion took someone who was CUT after making his D1 team and working at a retail store while his team continued to play to say “I’m going to start next year, I’m sick of this” AND DID. Passion told ME that I didn’t have to listen to all the people saying I am too small to play division 1 football. Passion told ME that just because we don’t have enough money right now that we will make it out just fine. Passion told ME that just because I was born a month premature at 4 pounds 7 ounces that I would make it out alive. Passion gave me the opportunity to be all-conference in track and football and 16th ranked long snapper in the nation. Passion got rid of my anxiety. Passion can help you pursue everything you can; with passion your dreams can come true. If your trying to make the team don’t ask yourself why WONT coach choose me, yet ask yourself what can I do so coach WILL choose me. If your trying to loose weight, take it slow, passion is patient, loose 5, ten pounds a time and it will add up. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Passion will take you anywhere you want to go. The 1980’s dream team, Danny woodhead, Tom Brady, Martin Luther King Jr., Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, John F. Kennedy, Anthony Robles, Eric Thomas, the 2004 Boston Red Sox, “Tank man”, Jared Fogle, the union in the civil war, our founding fathers, Anyone who is currently or had battled and won against cancer, Jackie Robinson, Kevin Ballinger all had one thing in common, at one point they were all common. They were all regular people like you and me. They just let their passion take over their life and let it lead them to where they wanted to be and not where they were. GO out there and become THAT person you want to be. That person you can go to sleep at night thinking yeah I gave it everything I had and now I am were I am. STOP BEING SO AFRAID TO BE GREAT. Go make the team, get that job, loose that weight, ask the cutest girl you know out on a date, make the band, get that starting role in the play, be the best boyfriend or girlfriend you can be, be the best mom or dad, husband or wife there is. Here’s your challenge. Be all that you can be. We have too much average in this world. Dare to be the best at what your doing. “Everything will be ok in the end, if its not okay, then it’s not the end”
